After Erick All left last week’s game against Wisconsin, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said the initial reaction was “not good” for the Hawkeyes’ leading receiver. Tuesday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported All tore his ACL.

All went down in the first quarter of last week’s win over Wisconsin and headed to the locker room on a cart. It was confirmed to be a knee injury, and Ferentz said an update would come sometime this week.

According to Thamel, All is now out for the season, which isn’t the news the Hawkeyes want to hear as they go through the rest of the Big Ten schedule. They’re now down their top two tight ends and their quarterback due to injuries.

“As for Iowa, some breaking news. Star tight end Erick All has torn his ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season,” Thamel said on College Football Live. “This is the second star tight end who’s out for the year for Iowa. Obviously, earlier in the season, Luke Lachey went out in mid-September. Star quarterback Cade McNamara’s out for the year.

“Iowa’s still, somehow at 6-1, in the driver’s position to win the Big Ten West. But it is going to continue to be difficult for the country’s third-worst passing offense without their leading receiver, Erick All.”

All went down with just over four minutes left in the first quarter on Saturday. After hauling in a five-yard reception, he was sandwiched by two Wisconsin defenders. In the collision, his right knee bent backward.

All, a transfer from Michigan along with McNamara, totaled 21 receptions for 299 yards and three touchdowns in seven games for Iowa this season. He and Lachey are the only two Hawkeyes to total more than 100 yards on the year — and Lachey only played in three games before getting hurt.

After the game, which Iowa won 15-6, Ferentz didn’t sound optimistic about All’s chances of coming back.

“He’s injured. It’s not good,” Ferentz said. “We’ll know early next week. It’s tough. Like everybody that has been hurt this year, it’s really tough for the individual. Wish I had good news. We don’t have bad news, yet. We should know Monday or Tuesday.”

Iowa’s offense has struggled in a big way this season. The Hawkeyes rank last in the Big Ten in both passing and total offense this season. They’re also averaging 20.9 points per game on the year. Still, Iowa came in at No. 24 in the AP Top 25 this week.

Next up for Iowa is a home matchup against Minnesota on Saturday.
