Iowa TE Cael Vanderbush enters the NCAA Transfer Portal
Iowa tight end Cael Vanderbush has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Vanderbush only spent two seasons with the Hawkeyes.
Vanderbush did not see any action in his true freshman season and opted to redshirt. However, Vanderbush did not make any appearances on the field in the 2023 campaign, either.
Cael Vanderbush played high school football at Plainfield (IN), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 643 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Vanderbush is the ninth player Iowa has lost in the transfer portal. The team has only added one player via the portal, earning the No. 40 spot in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
Iowa WR Jacob Bostick enters the transfer portal
Only one week before Vanderbush entered the transfer portal, Iowa wide receiver Jacob Bostick announced his plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He spent two seasons with the Hawkeyes.
Bostick redshirted his freshman season due to injury. In the 2023 campaign, Bostick played in five games, but did not record any statistics. Along with his decision to enter the transfer portal, Bostick released a heartfelt message to fans.

“I would like to thank Coach Ferentz and the entire coaching staff, as I’ve grown and learned a lot – it has truly been a blessing to be a Hawkeye,” Bostick wrote. “Special thanks to Coach Copeland for believing in me and pushing me to be the best in all aspects of my life. And to Kammy, the doctors and the best training staff — thank you for all you have done for me, I will never forget it.
“Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates, the fans and the Children’s Hospital for making these past two years so special. With that being said and prayerful consideration, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility remaining. I’m excited to take this leap of faith into this new chapter.”
