During her time with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark has become a legend within the program and all of women’s basketball. That, recently, even included setting the all-time scoring record for women’s college basketball.

Now, Iowa is honoring Clark and her contribution to the program by adding her name and number to the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The location chosen for where the Clark logo and number are being put at the exact spot where she broke the scoring record.

The logo itself is her name, Clark, spelled backward, with her number 22. You can see the logo that Iowa posted on social media, here:

“Made her mark,” Iowa captioned the photos of the logo.

At this point, Caitlin Clark still has the end of the regular season and the postseason to continue building on her scoring record. That could also include breaking the scoring record, regardless of gender. The current record is held by Pete Maravich, with 3,667 career points.

For her part, Clark currently has 3,593 career points, just 74 points behind Maravich. With three games left in the regular season and Clark averaging 32.4 points per game this season, it seems like she has a good chance of breaking that record during the regular season.

It was during Iowa’s win over Michigan that Caitlin Clark broke the all-time women’s college scoring record. She did so, in iconic fashion, by pulling up for a deep three-point shot that was nearly at the Hawkeye logo on center court. When she hit the shot, she passed Kelsey Plum, who held the previous record with 3,527 career points.

For now, it’s unclear whether this is going to be a permanent addition to the court or a temporary one. Either way, it’s an honor that Clark is more than deserving, considering what she has meant to the Iowa program and what she’s accomplished on that floor.

Caitlin Clark downplays thoughts on WNBA

The WNBA appears to be right around the corner for Caitlin Clark. However, for the time being, she is working to keep her focus on the present and her time at Iowa.

“You know, honestly, I’m just focused on this team right now. Playing my heart out for Iowa and getting to represent my state every single day. That’s what it’s all about,” Clark said.

“I’m not really too worried about the future. That is what it is. It comes when it comes – whatever I decide.”
