3-star WR Jarriett Buie Jr. commits to Iowa
Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit three-star wide receiver Jarriett Buie Jr. committed to Iowa on Saturday night. He announced the news over social media.
Buie Jr. is the No. 1,012 overall prospect and No. 151 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 150 player in Florida.
A commitment from Buie Jr. gives Iowa 20 commitments in its 2023 recruiting class. The group is led by Des Moines (Iowa) Southeast Polk five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, the No. 10 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.
Following Buie Jr.’s pledge, the Hawkeyes’ class moved up one spot to No. 29 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. It also rose to No. 5 in the Big Ten over Nebraska.
Buie Jr. is now the second wide receiver committed to Iowa. Marion (Iowa)’s Alex Mota, a four-star recruit and the No. 278 overall prospect in the 2023 On300, chose the Hawkeyes on Feb. 18.

Proctor is Iowa’s only blue-chip pledge. However, head coach Kirk Ferentz and his staff still have commitments from two other top-500 prospects. They are Iowa City (Iowa) three-star linebacker Ben Kueter and Indianapolis (Ind.) Roncalli three-star interior offensive lineman Trevor Lauck.
A Florida native, Buie Jr. is Iowa’s third commitment of the month. Both Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons three-star running back Kamari Moulton and Norfolk (Neb.) Norfolk Catholic defensive lineman Kade Pieper pledged to the Hawkeyes on Nov. 4.
Before November, Iowa’s last commitment was on July 12, courtesy of Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy three-star safety Kahlil Tate, the No. 628 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus. The Hawkeyes also landed July pledges from Detroit Martin Luther King three-star EDGE Kenneth Merrieweather and Saint Louis (Mo.) St. Louis University three-star tight end Zach Ortwerth.
Buie Jr. has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
