Florida running back Jaziun Patterson commits to Iowa football
Deerfield Beach (Fla.) three-star running back Jaziun Patterson picked up the Iowa hat on Tuesday night, pledging his commitment to the Hawkeyes.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound running back earned 23 D-I offers leading up to his commitment to the Hawkeyes. Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Miami and more all threw their hats into the ring.
Patterson also visited South Carolina and Florida State this summer but the Hawkeyes won out. Iowa running backs coach Ladell Betts led Patterson’s brief recruitment.
The Hawkeyes closed the deal rather quickly, offering in mid-July and grabbing the commitment Aug. 17 after a visit.
Jaziun Patterson is commit No. 9 for Iowa
Patterson is commitment No. 9 in Iowa’s 2022 recruiting class, which is currently trailing in the Big 10 rankings. He’ll team up with Jones (Okla.) 3-star quarterback Carson May who committed to Iowa in late June.
Also on offense in Iowa’s 2022 class: Palatine (Ill.) wide receiver Jacob Bostick, Waunakee (Wis.) offensive tackle Jack Dotzier, Huxley (Iowa) Ballard offensive tackle Kale Krogh and Sun Prairie (Wis.) tight end Addison Ostrenga.

Kirk Ferentz’s 2022 class also has two defensive line commits and one commitment for the linebacker room.

Patterson has 4.7-range 40-yard dash speed and a solid frame that can easily add weight for Big 10 football. His hands, power and shiftiness will make him an effective all-purpose back for Iowa.
Patterson was a Sun Sentinel All-Broward 8A-6A first-team selection for his performance in 2020. He rushed for 511 yards and seven touchdowns on 63 carries.
Deerfield Beach won five of six games in the COVID-19 shortened season. The Bucks first game of the season is at home Aug. 27 versus Edison High.
