Lisa Bluder shares her latest 'wow moment' with Caitlin Clark
Caitlin Clark has made plenty of eye-dropping plays during her college career. The Iowa star is must-see TV thanks to her unlimited shooting range, court vision and more.
Iowa coach Lisa Bluder was recently asked about Clark and the last time the senior had a “wow moment.”
With Caitlin Clark dazzling as often as she does, there’s not much that catches Bluder off guard anymore.
“I mean, I don’t know if she could give us any more wow moments,” Lisa Bluder said. “She’s given us so many over the last four years. Whether it’s shooting incredible shots, passing the ball like no other. I’m not sure she could do anything yet that we haven’t seen.”
With that said, one recent game in particular comes to mind for Bluder.
The last time she remembers being truly amazed at Caitlin Clark came in January of this year. The Hawkeyes were in a tight battle with Michigan State all the way until the end, when Clark hit a step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer for the win.
The shot was from well behind the 3-point line and lifted Iowa to a 76-73 victory.
“My last ‘oh wow’ moment, man, there’s been a lot,” Bluder said. “But Michigan State at home was a pretty big ‘oh wow’ moment for me when she hit that three at the buzzer again this year.”
Perhaps Caitlin Clark has more wow moments coming up before her college career is done. The Hawkeyes are set to face Colorado in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.
“Certainly she’s just a special player, and I’m really thankful — here we are four years into it, and it went like the blink of an eye,” Bluder said.

Lisa Bluder admits to calling technical fouls on Caitlin Clark in practices
Even though Lisa Bluder is amazed by Caitlin Clark, she continues to coach her hard and pushes her however she can.
Clark plays the game with a lot of emotion. If she’s upset with a call by an official, a mistake by a teammate or mad at herself, Clark will usually let you know.
Hawkeyes coach Lisa Bluder has the task of trying to help Clark keep her emotions in check. Bluder was asked ahead of Iowa’s Sweet 16 matchup with Colorado about how competitive Caitlin Clark is and if any stories stand out.
She admitted that what comes to mind is the fact that she calls technical fouls on her All-American in practice sometimes.
“Man. I mean, I’ve had to call technicals on her in practice,” Lisa Bluder said. “I mean, she gets — like you see her in games and the emotion she plays with in games, the passion, the highs, the lows — she’s the same way in practice when we go against our practice guys.”
