WATCH: Officials separate Fran McCaffery, Indiana assistant as tempers flare in Iowa-Indiana
Tempers ran high late in Thursday night’s Big Ten showdown between Iowa and Indiana at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. It resulted in a technical foul against a Hoosiers assistant.
The officials called a foul on Filip Rebraca with 53 seconds left — his fifth of the game, meaning he ended up heading to the bench. Iowa coach Fran McCaffery disagreed with the call as the officials went to the monitor, but wound up on the Indiana side of the court. That’s when he and Hoosiers assistant Yasier Rosemond had some words with one another and the referees stepped in to separate the two.
Then, the officials hit Rosemond with a technical foul.
Iowa ended up coming away with the upset victory, defeating Indiana 91-89 by outscoring the Hoosiers 51-39 after halftime. It was quite the second half from the Hawkeyes, who shot 53.6% from the floor after the break to erase what was once a 21-point deficit.
Kris Murray had a monster day for Iowa, scoring a game-high 30 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Hawkeyes. He and Indiana star Trayce Jackson-Davis put on a show for the fans on hand as he also put up 30 to pace the Hoosiers offense. Rebraca also added 19 points and 10 boards for Iowa before he fouled out.

Jalen Hood-Schifino also kept Indiana in it late with 21 points of his own, but it wasn’t enough as the Hoosiers suffered their fourth loss of the season and their second in Big Ten play. Indiana still had a strong performance on offense as a group, shooting 54.2% from the field for the game, including 53.3% from three-point distance.
Now, Iowa will turn its attention to Rutgers Sunday at the RAC. Indiana, meanwhile, will now return home to Assembly Hall to welcome Northwestern that same day.
