Caitlin Clark took over the college basketball world as of late. The performance by the Iowa guard put the world on notice to what kind of superstar we have on our hands in the women’s game. Even Paul Finebaum noticed himself doing things on Sunday that he had never done before while keeping up with the national championship game.

Finebaum talked about the experience of following Clark on ‘McElroy and Cubelic In The Morning’ on Monday. He said her performance on Friday night against South Carolina gripped his attention and had him going all in on her during the title game this weekend.

“I think Friday night it was Aliyah Boston vs. Caitlin Clark. What I found interesting is yesterday I was coming home from somewhere after the game started. And not only was I checking the score. I was going deeper in the box score to see how she was shooting. Because I knew that she had to have a fantastic game,” said Finebaum. “Not that that is a big deal but I’ve never done anything quite like that before. She was the name.”

The box score that Clark put up against LSU was another one worth keeping up with. She scored 30 points on eight made threes and added eight assists.

That outing only added to her incredible run in this season’s NCAA Tournament. During the Hawkeye’s trip to the Final Four, she broke the tournament records for points in both men’s and women’s with 191.

Clark also broke tournament records for assists with 60 and three-pointers made with 32. All in all, it was an unforgettable stretch for the reigning Player of the Year even though her team came up just a game short.

What’s even crazier is the fact that Clark can still add to her ever-growing legend during her senior season. After this phenomenal run, she’ll once again have all eyes on her, including Finebaum’s, once the ball is tipped when she next takes the floor.

Clark sends heartfelt thank you to Iowa fans following title loss

The historic season for Iowa guard Caitlin Clark came to a heartbreaking conclusion in Sunday’s national championship game. Despite breaking multiple NCAA Tournament records in leading the Hawkeyes to the title game, Clark couldn’t lift them past LSU as they suffered a 102-85 loss.

But regardless the way things ended, Clark captivated fans with her March Madness performance, and her 2022-23 season will forever hold a place in history. As she took a moment to reflect on those numerous accomplishments, she tweeted out a thank you message to Iowa fans.

“Thank you to all who have supported us on this magical run,” Clark wrote. “I am lucky to wear Iowa across my chest and represent our state. I love these girls to death and could not be more proud of all we accomplished this szn. Go hawks always.”
