Oregon transfer quarterback Ty Thompson is set to take a visit to Iowa, according to a report from David Eickholt. The former five-star recruit entered the transfer portal Dec. 11 after two years with the Ducks.

Thompson spent three seasons with Oregon and appeared in 13 games over that time, largely as a backup behind Bo Nix. On the whole, he threw for 456 yards and six touchdowns during his time in Eugene. But when the Ducks added Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore out of the portal, he decided to take his talents elsewhere.

After entering portal, Thompson checked in as the No. 20-ranked quarterback transfer, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. As of Wednesday night, he was the fifth-best available quarterback on the open market.

Ty Thompson played high school football at Gilbert (Ariz.) Mesquite, where he was a five-star prospect. He was the No. 31 overall recruit and No. 6 quarterback in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
