Veteran Iowa Hawkeyes receiver enters the NCAA Transfer Portal
The Iowa Hawkeyes are losing a veteran wide receiver to the transfer portal, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz. Redshirt junior Tyrone Tracy is leaving Iowa after four years under Kirk Ferentz.
In four years, Tracy accumulated 871 receiving yards and five touchdowns, as well as 93 rushing yards and two more scores. Despite a 2019 season with 36 catches for 589 yards, the Indianapolis native didn’t blossom into a consistent contributor. His best game this season was a five-catch performance versus Kent State.
The 6-foot, 185-pound wideout signed with Iowa in the 2018 class as a running back. He was a three-star prospect coming out of Decatur Central High School with 10 other D-I offers.
Tyrone Tracy joins three other Iowa Hawkeyes who’ve opted to enter the NCAA transfer portal since the end of the regular season.

Kirk Ferentz accepted the Iowa head coaching job in 1999, making him the longest-tenured coach in college football. Before that, he spent six seasons as an NFL assistant with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens.
Over the course of his career, Ferentz is 190-129 with a 9-8 record in bowl games. He won two Big Ten championships in 2002 and 2004, with a chance to win another Saturday against No. 2 Michigan. He also owns four Big Ten Coach of the Year awards from 2002, 2004, 2009 and 2015.
Iowa is 10-3 this season and won the Big Ten West with a rivalry week win. It is the seventh 10-win season of Ferentz’s Iowa tenure. The team is also riding a three-game bowl win streak which includes a bowl berth last season which was not played.
With his age, Kirk Ferentz has dealt with retirement rumors over the past several seasons but shows no intent to leave Iowa.
