Iowa State offers elite 2024 wideout Brauntae Johnson
Iowa State extended an offer to Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side wide receiver Brauntae Johnson on Wednesday.
Johnson is considered one of the best recruits in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
The offer is his third after Purdue and Central Michigan extended offers in June.
Johnson was in Columbus, Ohio, two weekends ago for Ohio State‘s game versus Tulane.
It was his first college visit on a football gameday, and he walked away impressed with the environment at the school.
He told Lettermen Row that he could feel the attention from the coaching staff.
After receiving his offer from Purdue, he told the Fox affiliate in Fort Wayne that “everybody” dreams of going to the Big Ten.
“At the end of the day, I’m not satisfied,” Johnson said. These offers coming, I want to keep getting more and more. I won’t let one offer determine who I am.”
Brauntae Johnson is a two-sport star
In addition to his skills on the football field, Brauntae Johnson is also a high-level basketball player.
He already has an offer from Purdue-Fort Wayne to play basketball at the next level.
As a freshman at Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side, Johnson averaged 17 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists.

Johnson is continuing to put up big numbers as a sophomore even as his team struggles in the win column. He is the team’s top threat on the outside and also plays some defensive back and returns kicks on special teams.
Johnson is one of Iowa State’s first 2024 offers
Matt Campbell and the Iowa State coaching staff have not extended many offers to players in the 2024 cycle so far. Brauntae Johnson is only their 14th extended offer to a 2024 player.
Iowa State is not known for having top recruiting classes but the Cyclones have done an excellent job over the past year.
Their 2022 class has two On300 members in Council Bluffs (Iowa) Lewis Central offensive lineman Hunter Deyo and Blue Springs (Mo.) High EDGE Ikenna Ezeogu.
In total, the class has 18 commits and ranks in the top 30 in the country. That ranking would be the best for Iowa State since Campbell took over as head coach.
