The state of Mississippi is filled with some of the most interesting head coaches in college football. Between Ole Miss‘ Lane Kiffin and Mississippi State‘s Mike Leach, two of the sport’s biggest characters reside in the Magnolia State. However, Jackson State‘s Deion Sanders may be the biggest personality in the state.

On Tuesday, Sanders was spotted in Starkville, visiting Leach and the Bulldogs for their practice. Still repping his Jackson State gear, Prime Time gave a smile and a thumbs up from the sidelines.

Check it out here.

Mississippi State has hosted Jackson State twice in its history, with the first match during the 2009 season and the second in 2012. The Bulldogs have won both by a wide margin, averaging 50.9 points per game in the two matchups.

Whether or not the Bulldogs are interested in scheduling another game between the two in-state programs is yet to be seen after the work Sanders has done in Jackson.

A lot of eyes are going to be on Jackson State this season, especially after the recruiting class Sanders was able to put together. The On3 Consensus No. 1 overall player in the 2022 class, Five-Star Plus+ athlete Travis Hunter, shocked the world on national signing day, signing with the Tigers. No. 69 overall prospect, wide receiver Kevin Coleman, has also signed his national letter of intent.

Jackson State does not have an FBS opponent on their 2022 schedule as of now. They will face off against the Texas State Bobcats in 2022 and then Louisana-Monroe in 2023. Both of those games are scheduled to be on the road for the Tigers.

Deion Sanders calls out NFL teams over Pro Day

Deion Sanders and the Jackson State Tigers hosted scouts from 22 NFL teams on Monday for Pro Day, but it was the 10 teams that didn’t show up that got the head coach’s attention. Sanders sent out a warning to the teams that didn’t send a scout to Jackson, Miss.

“Our pro day, at an HBCU, I love that, and yeah, and guess what? That means 10 of them (NFL teams’ representatives) is missing,” Sanders said to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “Don’t think I ain’t going to call you out.

“You 10 that’s missing if I catch you at Mississippi State or Ole Miss (for those two SEC programs’ upcoming pro days), it’s going to be a problem. That’s all I’m saying.”

Sanders has high hopes for his squads’ future NFL prospects. He’s previously stated he hopes to have seven to 10 players taken in this year’s draft.
