Former Alabama wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson has committed to Kansas via the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Henderson spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide.

The 6-foot-1 receiver appeared in every game this past season to finish with four catches for 82 yards. He also contributed as a kick returner with five returns for a total of 107 yards (21.4 average).

Henderson committed to Alabama in 2022 as a four-star athlete out of Geneva County (AL) High School. He ranked as the No. 44 overall player and No. 3 athlete in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Despite mostly working as a running back in high school, Henderson made the transition to receiver with the Crimson Tide. He appeared in 13 games as a true freshman to record one catch for 14 yards, as well as three tackles on special teams.

In spite of his high recruiting ranking and the early promise he showed as a freshman, Henderson unfortunately suffered an injury that derailed the start of his sophomore season. Now, Henderson will look to reach his potential with the Jayhawks.

After finishing the 2024 campaign with a 5-7 record, Kansas has wasted no time making changes this offseason. Emmanuel Henderson is the 15th player the Jayhawks have added via the transfer portal this cycle. Kansas is currently ranked No. 9 in On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings.

Henderson can expect to catch passes from Jalon Daniels next season. The standout quarterback reportedly struck a deal with the program earlier this month to return for the 2025 season. Daniels completed 57% of his passes for 2,454 passing yards and 14 touchdowns with 12 interceptions this year.

He also tallied 93 carries for 447 rushing yards and six touchdowns. While the Jayhawks struggled during the first half of the season, Kansas won four of their last six down the stretch. Now, with Henderson and other transfers joining the program, the Jayhawks will look to build on their momentum next season.

The transfer portal officially opened Dec. 7 and will remain open until Dec. 28, though players on teams still playing in the postseason will get an additional five-day window to enter the portal after their seasons end.
