Report: Arterio Morris enrolls at Garden City Community College after Kansas departure
Former Texas guard and Kansas transfer Arterio Morris has enrolled at Garden City (KS) Community College after leaving the Jayhawks program, according to JucoRecruiting.com. The school is located more than 300 miles away from Lawrence.
Morris was preparing for his first season at Kansas, but was dismissed from the program in light of rape allegations against him and his arrest.
The accusation against Morris came out in September, according to the Kansas City Star, he was suspended shortly thereafter. The incident took place in the dorm that commonly houses the KU basketball team, per an affidavit obtained by the Kansas City Star, when he allegedly raped an 18-year-old victim in a room.
Morris allegedly pulled the victim on to his lap despite her saying she “didn’t want to do anything” repeatedly. The identity of the victim and other witnesses were redacted in the affidavit.
Morris allegedly eventually pinned the victim down by her neck and throat after she tried to get off him. She continued to tell him to stop, per the affidavit, before eventually she “gave up” and waited for Morris to be done.
“Stop. This really hurts,” the victim said, per the affidavit.
She quickly told two witnesses in a nearby room what had happened, per the affidavit. The KC Star reported that a source confirmed this timeline, and said one of the two people the victim shared the story with was a Kansas basketball player who was not involved in the incident. Multiple KU men’s basketball players have been listed as witnesses in the case in various documents.
