They say revenge is a dish best served cold and KansasJalen Wilson was ice cold in serving a heaping helping of it to the rival Wildcats after Kansas State fans stormed the court following the first meeting this season.

Kansas led pretty much from start to finish in the rematch on Tuesday night, and the first thing on Wilson’s mind after the game was reminding Kansas State fans that he hadn’t forgotten.

“We just understand that we had to come out and play today,” Wilson said. “How that ended last game wasn’t obviously the way we wanted it to go and it was kind of just like a big rub in our face, them storming it. I always remember stuff like that, of course.”

Wilson scored a team-high 20 points for the Jayhawks in the 90-78 win on Tuesday night. He also dished out four assists while pulling down eight boards.

It was a terrific all-around performance, the kind that helps flip fortunes in a rematch with the eyes of the country watching.

“I just wanted to make sure today we got off to a great start, set the tone early and kind of controlled the game,” Wilson said. “And I thought we did for the most part.”

Indeed. After the first five minutes and change, Kansas didn’t trail the rest of the way. Kansas State storming the court? Now a distant memory.

Travis Kelce has message for Kansas

A special guest was in the house on Tuesday night with Kansas hosting Kansas State. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce decided to soak in the Allen Fieldhouse atmosphere, watching the Jayhawks get revenge on their in-state rivals. Seems fitting that a Super Bowl winner was there to watch the defending national champions play.

Kelce was a guest in the Kansas locker room after the game. Once the final horn sounded, he made his way across the court and delivered a message. Star guard Jalen Wilson revealed Kelce discussed the mindset of adding another ring to the collection, something both KU and the Chiefs are trying to accomplish in the near future.

“They’re going for a championship, and he was telling us that winning one is good but winning two is even better,” Wilson said.

Kelce received his first championship in the early stages of 2020, defeating the San Francisco 49ers alongside superhero quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Wilson earned one this past March, taking down the North Carolina Tar Heels in the national championship game.

Gunning for two? Why not, right?
