According to an earlier report on Tuesday, Kansas would be playing the rest of their 2022 season without quarterback Jalon Daniels. Injuring his shoulder during the loss to TCU, Daniels had a grade three separation on the right side. After a great start to the season, it was tough to see the Jayhawks lose their guy.

Well, Daniels reacted later in the day, saying the report was new information to him. He sent out a tweet responding and denying everything.

It’s already been confirmed that Daniels would miss at least one game, with head coach Lance Leipold considering him “doubtful” against Oklahoma. Kansas is already halfway through its season, sitting with a 5-1 overall record and 2-1 within the Big 12.

No matter how many games Daniels cannot play going forward, Jason Bean will be the replacement for Kansas.

Kansas has sported one of the top offenses in the country, with Daniels being a huge reason why. He’s been a threat both in the passing game and on the ground, having 1,413 total yards through six games. Daniels has 11 passing and five rushing touchdowns, with 10 total coming against Duke and Houston combined.

Statement made on original report

Matt Tait, the sports editor of the Lawrence Journal-World, put out a statement on the situation as well. He said the information reported wasn’t submitted to the paper or go through the “reporting process.”

“A note about #KUfball QB Jalon Daniels,” Tait began. Zac Boyer, a former employee of @KUSports who has done freelance work for us recently, tweeted Daniels is out for the year. That info wasn’t submitted to us & didn’t go thru our reporting process. We haven’t been able to confirm any details.”

Lance Leipold reacts to Jalon Daniels news

Daniels was not the only one who took to Twitter to react to the original report. Leipold sent out a tweet himself, showing his quarterback in the office. He had two poses, with both using some kind of shoulder mobility. At the very least, Daniels can pose for a couple of pictures.
