WATCH: Kansas fans toss goal post in lake to celebrate becoming bowl eligible for first time since 2008
Saturday night was a historic night for the Kansas football team under their head coach Lance Leipold. They throttled the Oklahoma State Cowboys 37-16 to win their sixth game this year. The win officially made the Jayhawks bowl eligible for the first time since the 2008 season–when legendary quarterback Todd Reesing suited up for the KU football program. To celebrate the occasion, Kansas fans carried the goal post and dumped it in a lake.
Check it out.
The Jayhawks were propelled to victory thanks to a historic performance by their running back Devin Neal, who had 334 all-purpose yards and one touchdown on 38 touches. He became the first player in Kansas football history to have over 100 rushing yards and over 100 receiving yards in the same game.

Kansas head coach Lance Leipold has done a remarkable job
It goes without saying that it’s been a historic season on the gridiron for the Jayhawks and their head coach, Lance Leipold, will certainly be in the running for national Coach of the Year honors.
Kansas currently sits at 6-3 overall. Their next game against Texas Tech is certainly winnable, but their final two matchups against the Texas Longhorns and Kansas State Wildcats will be much tougher tests.

Either way, Jayhawk fans should be excited because they’re bowl eligible and their starting quarterback Jalon Daniels, suffered a shoulder injury that made him miss a number of games. He made a very brief appearance in the Oklahoma State game and is expected to be healthy sometime in the near future.
Kansas backup quarterback Jason Bean played well against Oklahoma State, too. He rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He also completed 18 of his 23 passes for 203 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Kansas faces off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, Nov. 12. Kickoff for that one is slated for 7:00 PM EST.
