For the second time in the Bill Self era, the Kansas Jayhawks are national champions. Down by 15 at halftime against the North Carolina Tar Heels, Kansas was able to complete the biggest NCAA Tournament championship comeback of all time. It was an energetic and quick-paced second half for the Jayhawks, winning their fourth title in program history, 72-69.

As is tradition after winning the championship, the team went through the process of cutting down the nets. A memento everybody involved with the team will keep, the moment may almost be as sweet as the final buzzer going off in the arena.

Of course, as the head coach, Self got the final part of the net. Doing it for the first time in the city of San Antonio, TX, New Orleans will now always be a special place to Self.

You can watch the full moment here.

With the win on Monday night, Self became the 16th head coach in college basketball history to win multiple national championships. On top of that, he is the first Kansas head coach to have multiple titles to his name. It took 14 years to do so but the long-time Jayhawks coach would likely tell you it was worth the wait, cementing himself as one of the greatest to ever do it.

The hometown kid, Christian Braun was one of the biggest reasons why Kansas was able to beat North Carolina. He finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and securing 12 rebounds. Braun added on three assists as well.

After getting ripped to shreds by Charles Barkley at halftime, center David McCormack also finished with a double-double, going for 15 points and 10 rebounds. Guards Remy Martin and Jalen Wilson were on fire during the second half as well, proving it was a whole team effort from the Jayhawks on Monday night.
