Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels put to bed any sort of rumors or questions about his future on Friday night, when he released a video on Twitter that let everyone know he’s returning to the Jayhawks for the 2023 college football season. Daniels was one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in college football this season, before dealing with a shoulder injury in the second half of the season.

Check out the video the dynamic dual-threat dropped on Friday evening. The quotes from his video are also transcribed below.

In his video, Daniels said, “Ever since I first touched the field at 8 years old, it was always a dream of mine to be able to play college football at the Division I level. Under the lights, with my brothers, listening to the roar of the crowd, and being able to accomplish what many people thought I couldn’t.”

“These past three years–you’ve brought me in as one of your own. Helped up pack The Booth. Stayed down with us when nobody else believed. And have not only helped me grow as an athlete, but as a man,” Daniels continued. “This season was full of many trials and tribulations. But along with those trials and tribulations were many blessings that not only I was able to achieve as a player, but we were able to achieve as a program.”

Daniels then had an announcer talk about how he’ll be returning in 2023 with the audio mentioning that he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining. Then he spun the football and spoke directly into the camera, “So stop asking. 2023, it’s up. Rock Chalk Nation! Let’s do it!”

Then in the final part of the video, he had an image that said, “Job not finished.”

This season, he completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 2,014 yards, while tossing in 18 touchdowns and four interceptions. As a runner, he had 77 rushing attempts for 419 yards and seven touchdowns.

His return is absolutely massive for the Jayhawks, as he carried the program to a historic 5-0 start during the 2022 campaign. Kansas finished with a 6-7 overall record, falling to Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl 55-53, in one of the most highly entertaining games of the 2022-2023 bowl season.

The 2023 NFL Draft is set to take place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event will be held at the plaza just outside of Union Station.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Apr. 27. Rounds 2-3 will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Apr. 28, and Rounds 4-7 will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Apr. 29. The draft will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on both ESPN and NFL Network.

Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility. 100 underclassmen were approved for last year’s draft. 73 of those 100 underclassmen were granted special eligibility while 27 of them were underclassmen who had completed their college degrees.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine will take place from Feb. 28 through March 6 in Indianapolis.
