Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels is among the dozens of Big 12 football players descending on Dallas for the conference’s annual media days this week. But few, if any, are likely to be sporting an accessory as cool as the one Daniels showed off on Wednesday.

The Jayhawks’ dynamic signal caller not only has a Cuban link chain that he’s sporting with a satiny cream-color suit, off-white shirt and red tie, as the pendant on the chain takes it to another level. A level that college athletes might soon be copycatting.

While many would have an additional bit of jewelry as the pendant, Daniels had a little screen playing clips of his own highlights from 2022.

The Jayhawk lapel pin pales in comparison to this next-level display of bling Daniels showed off.

And his reasoning for being a literal walking highlight reel at conference media days is to remember how he even got there.

“Got a nice little Cuban-link chain right here, man. WE got the piece playing the highlights because honestly, if it wasn’t for me making a few of these plays on here, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. So, just a reminder, everyone walking around, this is what I do. I like to play football, I like to play quarterback, I like to score touchdowns,” Daniels said in the video.

Daniels is expected to score plenty of touchdowns for Kansas in 2023

Daniels put the Jayhawks on the map last fall before an injury slowed down his hype train. But if he’s fully healthy in 2023, Kansas could be dangerous.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy ranked Daniels the No. 2 quarterback in the Big 12 when he broke it all down on the “Always College Football” podcast

“Those that pay close attention realize that Jalon Daniels in Kansas was a one-man wrecking crew,” McElroy said. “And you look at another guy, got sidelined, got banged up against TCU on October 8, but look at the first month of the season. Look at how good he was and how dynamic he was. Now, is he ultimately going to make a push for the Heisman trophy? I think Dillon Gabriel’s got a much better chance (out of quarterbacks in the big Ten).

“But still Jalon Daniels, if he can pick up where he left off ever he returned late had an unbelievable finish to the season against Arkansas, they ultimately came up short in that game, but my goodness. I mean the fourth quarter, name a better fourth quarter performance by a quarterback and any bowl game this past season. Probably wasn’t one.”
