Montverde Academy (Fla.) Chris Johnson, a four-star senior and Kansas signee, has requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent.

The 6-foot-4 combo guard out of Missouri City (Texas) committed to the Jayhawks last August and signed in November. He chose Bill Self and the Jayhawks over offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Alabama, UCLA, UConn, and others.

Johnson is the No. 51 overall prospect and No. 12 point guard in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Florida.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $60K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
