Kansas to retire Thomas Robinson's jersey vs. Missouri
As a blue blood in college basketball, several jerseys line the rafters inside Allen Fieldhouse at Kansas. Now, yet another will join that lineup this weekend with the jersey retirement of Thomas Robinson.
On Monday, Bill Self announced that they would be retiring Robinson’s #0 during halftime of their game versus Missouri this weekend.
Robinson spent three seasons in Lawrence from 2009 to 2012. In total, he played in 105 games for Kansas and averaged 9.8 points and 7.3 rebounds on 52.5% shooting from the field.
That culminated in Robinson’s breakout junior season as a Jayhawk. In 2011-2012, he moved into a starting role and averaged 17.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game on 50.5% shooting. That helped him become a Consensus All-American, Big 12 Player of the Year, a First-Team All-Big 12 selection, and a finalist for the Wooden Award.
He also helped lead Kansas to an appearance in the national championship in New Orleans before losing to Kentucky, their second defeat to the Wildcats of their season where they went 32-7 overall.
Robinson then went on to be the No. 5 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. He would go on to spend five seasons in the association with Sacramento, Houston, Portland, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and the Los Angeles Lakers. In 313 appearances as a pro, he averaged 4.9 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Self has coached some highly-regarded players during his two decades at Kansas. Robinson is now the latest to earn the extreme honor from the program during the team’s matchup with Mizzou on Saturday.

It’s clear both teams have a lot to play for here as UNLV is also in search of its first bowl win since 2000. We can only hope that leads to an exciting battle when the Rebels and Jayhawks kick off the day after Christmas.
