Signed, sealed, delivered.

November 8th marked the first day of the early signing period and it runs through the 15th. It’s the first opportunity for players to put pen to paper and officially sign their National Letter of Intents to their future schools.

Barring any unforeseen changes, Kansas’ high school recruiting class is complete. Each of the Jayhawks commitments have officially inked their signature with KU.

Bill Self and the Jayhawks have signed a three-man class that ranks 3rd nationally — five-star C Flory Bidunga (No. 6), four-star PG Labaron Philon (No. 30), and four-star SF Rakease Passmore (No. 47).

Let’s discuss each of the newcomers for this 2024 class.

Five-Star C Flory Bidunga

Rated as a five-star recruit by each of the recruiting media companies, Flory Bidunga is a man amongst boys. He uses his elite athleticism, strength, and fluidity to overpower defenders and score in the post. Standing at 6-foot-9 and roughly 215-pounds, he’s also a lob threat, excels in transition, and demonstrates sound footwork. Bidunga, out of Kokomo, Indiana, does a great job of protecting the paint and has excellent timing in delivering blocked shots. Elite rim protector. The big man has a high-motor and that is one thing you can always count on. His jumpshot is coming along and he’s a great rebounder.

The Jayhawks beat out a final group of Duke, Auburn, and Michigan for the big man. This was a big recruiting win for Bill Self. Bidunga should fit well into Kansas’ system as we’ve seen the Jayhawks like to play through their big.

Four-Star PG Labaron Philon

Labaron Philon first popped on the national scene while playing high school ball in his hometown of Mobile where he put up gaudy numbers (42.3 PPG). Since, he’s made the move to powerhouse Link Academy in Missouri for his senior season.

The 6-foot-3 point guard is excellent with the ball in his hands and has a good handle. He demonstrates strong scoring instincts with a knack for getting in the lane. His shot has really improved over the past year. Philon is unselfish and is a good passer. He sees the floor well and likes to get his teammates involved. He’s a two-way guard that really gets after it on the defensive end. Philon continues to improve and keeps getting better.

Originally committed to Auburn, Philon reopened his recruitment earlier this year. He also received offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Cincinnati, and others.

Four-Star SF Rakease Passmore

Last but definitely not least is Rakease Passmore out of Combine Academy (N.C.). The 6-foot-5 small forward is an exciting player and will sure wow the fans in Allen Fieldhouse. With a 46-inch vertical jump, Passmore is an elite athlete. He has a strong frame that allows him to cut through the lane and finish through contact. He will be ready to compete at Kansas from day one. There is a lot of defensive upside here as well. The shooting aspect of his game has continued to improve but that’s not his calling card. People rave about Passmore’s worth ethic. He has the potential to outperform his top-50 recruiting ranking.

Passmore chose the Jayhawks over offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma, LSU, and others.
