Pete Thamel: Jalon Daniels out in Week 7, could return in November
Kansas football will not have their starting quarterback, Jalon Daniels, available for their Week 7 matchup at Oklahoma, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. However, contrary to some recent reports, Thamel says Daniels may return at some point this season and is not officially out for the year.
Here was Thamel’s report, which he tweeted:
“Sources: The injury to Kansas QB Jalon Daniels will keep him out today’s game with Oklahoma. The timetable for the return from right shoulder injury remains ambiguous, as he’s week-to-week. Look for the earliest potential return being the Nov. 5 game with Oklahoma State after bye.”

So no Daniels vs. Oklahoma. However, he could be back as early as the Jayhawks’ game against Oklahoma State. No guarantees. As Thamel said, his timetable is “ambiguous.” But the report definitely goes against rumors from earlier in the week that Daniels was done for the season.
KU Football reporter Zac Boyer was the one who reported Daniels would miss the remainder of the season, posting this tweet:

“Kansas QB Jalon Daniels is expected to miss the rest of the season with a Grade 3 separation of his right shoulder, per sources. It’s a tough blow for Daniels, who was opening a lot of eyes nationally for his (and the Jayhawks’) start. It’s Jason Bean’s team now. #kufball“
However, Daniels himself responded to Boyer’s tweet with this message: “Sheeesh…That’s News to Me.” So clearly dispelling the notion that his year is over. And now, Pete Thamel reports that he could return as early as the Oklahoma State game and definitely is not ruled out for good. Jayhawk fans can feel a little better about their star quarterback.
In the meantime, Jason Bean will start. Bean came in for Daniels when he was injured vs. TCU and looked impressive. Perhaps he can blossom with the starting opportunity.
