Shakeel Moore withdraws from transfer portal quickly after entering

Kansas guard Shakeel Moore has withdrawn from the transfer portal on the same day he entered, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Moore had entered the portal less than an hour earlier after one season in Lawrence.
Moore transferred to Kansas ahead of the 2024-25 season from Mississippi State. He went on to average 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He was plagued by injuries, playing in only 20 games and starting nine of them.
He had considerably larger impact with the Bulldogs, where he was an on-and-off starter for three seasons. During his final year in Starkville, Shakeel Moore averaged 7.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He shot 36.3% from 3-point range, the best mark of his career.
Moore initially began his college career at NC State in 2020-21 and played in 25 games with two starts as a true freshman. He averaged 6.7 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals across 18.6 minutes per game.
Moore played high school basketball at Moravian Prep in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was a four-star prospect in the 2020 class. He ranked as the No. 115 overall player and No. 8 combo guard in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Kansas is coming off of a season in which it earned a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the lowest of the Bill Self era. The Jayhawks also failed to make it past the first round for the first time since 2006, so will hope a healthy Moore can help them bounce back in 2025-26.

The college basketball transfer portal officially opened for business on Monday, March 24, and will close on Tuesday, April 22. As of this writing, more than 1,000 players had already entered their names.
Last spring alone, 1,962 Division I players tested the portal waters. Based on the early numbers from this year, even more could follow. For the first time in history, more than half of the points scored in college basketball were scored by players from the transfer portal, not high school, in the 2024-25 season.
In data gathered over the first two years with transfer windows, the NCAA found most athletes enter the portal within the first four weeks of the portal opening. The study showed that 73% of men’s and women’s basketball undergraduate athletes entered during the first four weeks. That increased to 82% for men and 86% for women in 2024.
