WATCH: Christian Braun lobs a nasty alley-oop to Ochai Agbaji
The No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks were in a fiercely contested battle with the Providence Friars in the Sweet 16 on Friday night. Then, during crunch time, the Jayhawks did what most smart teams do, they looked for their superstar. Christian Braun lobbed a beautiful alley-oop to Ochai Agbaji, and the superstar went up and got it for the emphatic jam.
Check out how high he elevated for this one!
The dunk put the Jayhawks up 57-50 with less than three minutes remaining in the second half.
Kansas was able to pull away in the final minutes and pulled out the victory, 66-61. With the win, the Jayhawks advanced to the Elite Eight.
Agbaji had a relatively quiet evening for Kansas, but rest assured he showed up when it mattered the most for his team. He scored a season-low five points and grabbed four rebounds, but the electrifying dunk he delivered above was big in helping the Jayhawks pull out the win.
Agbaji was one of the most electrifying players in college basketball for most of the regular season, but hasn’t had a very good NCAA Tournament thus far. Kansas fans are hoping that changes in their upcoming Elite Eight matchup.

During the regular season, Agbaji stuffed the stat sheet with 19.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He’s an excellent example of what staying in college can do for a player’s development. His freshman year he was only averaging 8.5 points per game, while shooting 30.7 percent from beyond-the-arc.
Four years later, his scoring average has more than doubled and his three-point shooting percentage is 40 percent, among the best in the country. The superstar is also a great endorsement for players sticking it out at a school and utilizing their time under one coaching staff, as opposed to hitting the transfer portal and learning under different staffs.
The Kansas Jayhawks also accomplished some history on Friday night, earning their 2,354th win–the most in college basketball history.
Kansas is now the lone remaining No. 1 seed left in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. In their next game in the Elite Eight, will face the winner of the No. 10 seed Miami Hurricanes vs. No. 11 seed Iowa State Cyclones matchup.
