WATCH: Kansas quarterback Jason Bean running wild over Coastal Carolina

Kansas quarterback Jason Bean has shown off his dynamic dual-threat ability with his legs Friday night. He has already dashed through the Coastal Carolina defense for two touchdown runs.

Here is his first touchdown run, a 34-yard scamper.

That touchdown scamper cut the Chanticleers lead to 28-15.

First half stats for Jason Bean

In the first half tonight, Jason Bean, a North Texas transfer, rushed eight times for 60 yards and a touchdown. He also completed eight of his 15 pass attempts for 99 passing yards, while not throwing an interception or touchdown.

Then Bean came out in the second half and gashed the Chanticleers defense on the ground again, this time for a 46-yard touchdown run where he tip-toed down the left sideline.

The replay was reviewed by officials to see if he stepped out, but the touchdown was confirmed. The ESPN announcers were in disbelief at the call and thought Bean stepped out, but the play stood. The touchdown run and extra point cut the Coastal Carolina lead to 28-22 in the third quarter.

North Texas stats

In 2020, his sophomore year at North Texas, Jason Bean threw for 1,131 passing yards, while tossing in 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also had 56 carries for 346 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

In 2019, his redshirt freshman year for the Mean Green, Bean made his collegiate debut against Utah State in the New Mexico Bowl. He had four rushes for 14 yards, and didn’t complete any of his two passing attempts in the game. He threw an interception in the game. The 6-foot-3 signal-caller redshirted for the 2019 season due to playing in only one contest.

Listed as a 6-foot-3, 189-pound quarterback, Jason Bean was rated as a three-star prospect coming out of Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield, Texas.

As a junior, Bean threw for 2,956 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. He also showed off his dual-threat ability, rushing for 530 yards and seven touchdowns.

As a senior, he threw for over 1,600 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, while running for 694 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
