All Big 12 eyes are in Boulder on Saturday night, with Colorado playing host to Kansas State. Two 4-1 teams are facing off and hoping to gain control in what should be a tight race to the conference championship game in Arlington. Both quarterbacks are expected to be stars throughout, with Avery Johnson certainly making a statement early on.

Kansas State decided to roll the dice deep in the red zone, going for it on 4th and 4 from their own eight-yard line. Colorado sent a blitz and a free rusher was heading toward Johnson. After eluding him, Johnson not only got the first down but also a touchdown.

The celebration is what makes the play noteworthy, though. Johnson decided to hit the “Deion Shuffle” with Deion Sanders on the opposing sideline. A Colorado defender did provide a little shove when running by Johnson but nothing more developed.

Colorado star Travis Hunter leaves game with injury

Travis Hunter has started off Saturday’s game against Kansas State in impressive fashion once again, playing both sides of the ball. There is an issue late in the second quarter, though, as Hunter was shown by the ESPN broadcast heading back to the locker room. Not what you want to see from a Heisman Trophy hopeful.

Colorado assistant was holding Hunter’s helmet but the two-way star was walking under his own power. ESPN’s Quint Kessenich later revealed Hunter is dealing with shoulder pain and the issue has been throughout the entire game. Not one specific moment can be linked to the injury.

“Hunter with the right shoulder pain,” Kessenich said. “You pointed it out. The medical staff looked at him. He came over, grimacing in pain. They came over to him again and now, this is the second time in this game that he has walked off. Amazing toughness because Omarion Miller wanted to substitute himself into the game, Travis waved him off. But finally, he’s in the locker room now, getting further evaluated.”
