Chiefs WR encourages Dylan Edwards to pick K-State
Derby (Kan.) High junior running back Dylan Edwards is one of the most coveted offensive players and top juniors in the Sunflower State.
He is a K-State legacy, as his father Leon Edwards played for Bill Snyder from 1992-1994. He is a coveted prospect for the Wildcats. So, it’s no surprise K-State is pulling out all the stops to land him.
The same is true for K-State football alumni.
Edwards quote tweeted a post from Kansas City Chiefs receiver Byron Pringle with three thinking emojis Sunday morning. The original tweet from Pringle encouraged Edwards to play in purple and white in college.
Pringle is in his fourth season with the Chiefs. He finished with more than 2,000 all-purpose yards as a wide receiver and returner at K-State. Pringle also finished second in school history in career yards per reception and sixth in both career kickoff-return average and yards.
K-State on long list of offers for Dylan Edwards
Kansas State isn’t the only school heavily pursuing Dylan Edwards. He has 12 scholarship offers: Kansas State, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Minnesota, West Virginia, Michigan State, Memphis, Iowa State, Kansas, Arizona, North Texas and Tennessee Tech. Notre Dame, Nebraska and TCU are schools he’s also getting heavy attention from.

Edwards has taken a number of unofficial visits since this summer, but he’s spent the most time in Manhattan. He was on campus twice this past summer and has already been to two K-State games. Edwards was on an unofficial visit this past weekend to Nebraska. But most assume K-State is the team to beat for him, especially with his family connection and strong bond with his father.
“We watch the games all the time,” Edwards said this past summer. “I could see myself in the purple and white.”
Big season for Edwards
Derby is the top seed in the West side of the Kansas Class 6A bracket, and the Panthers are the favorites to repeat as state champions once again. A big reason why is because of the play of Edwards.
Through eight regular-season games, Edwards had rushed for 1,652 yards and 24 touchdowns. He averaged 14.9 a rush and also racked up 10.2 yards a reception.
Derby faces Lawrence Free State on Friday in the 6A sectional round.
