Jefferson (Ga.) Jordan Perry knew that Kansas State was home during his first trip to Manhattan, Ks. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back made his decision public on Thursday night.

“I’ve known since I went on the visit that it was where I wanted to be,” Perry said. “It took me a minute, but I’ve known for a while exactly where I wanted to be.”

Kansas State defensive backs coach Joe Klanderman headed the recruitment of Perry.

“I met with coach (Joe) Klanderman and all of them and they told me how much he liked me and how much I meant to him and how much they really wanted me there,” Perry said. “My mom was like ‘man I can see you here’. We just walked around that stadium and imagined me playing in front of thousands of people and it really sold me.”

Klanderman won over Perry when he treated the entire family like they were kin. Perry, his sister and his mother were all hoping that he’d land in a place that treated him like a family member.

“Coach (Joe) Klanderman really treated me like family,” Perry said. “When my family came to visit, it was really great. He gave me his all and that meant a lot to me and my mom…It was really important for my mom and my sister. They really wanted to see that. The way they treated me throughout has been a big thing for me.”

Perry didn’t know a lot about Kansas State before he was offered back on June 3.

Perry grew up less than 30 minutes from Athens, the home of the University of Georgia. He has seen a lot of SEC football in his life.

Perry did his research and found that Kansas State has a history of developing players at a high level.

“Being from Georgia, we watch a lot of SEC ball, so I didn’t know much,” Perry said. “I watched them a little bit because I watch a lot of football period. Going in I didn’t know much. I learned a lot when I got the offer. They’ve put a lot of people in the next level, so that was definitely a big thing for me. A coach like coach Klanderman is ready to work with you at any time. He’s a solid guy and I really appreciate him.”
