Former Kansas State basketball star Michael Beasely was arrested early Sunday morning for possession of marijuana while attempting to board a plane in Manhattan, Kansas, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.
Beasley, who played 11 seasons in the NBA and last played professionally for the Shanghai Sharks in 2022, was arrested at 5:12 am CT Sunday at Manhattan Regional Airport, according to the Riley County Police Department’s daily arrest report. He was released after posting a $750 bond.
Beasley was in town attending Saturday’s Sunflower Showdown between Kansas State and Kansas, in which the host Wildcats knocked off the 16th-ranked Jayhawks 81-73 in Bramlage Coliseum. It was reportedly his first game back in Manhattan as a fan since entering the 2008 NBA Draft following a highly successful freshman season in 2007-08.
Bealsey was a consensus All-American in his only seasons in Manhattan after averaging 26.2 points and 12.4 rebounds while guiding Kansas State to 21 victories and a NCAA Tournament appearance that season. He was the No. 2 overall pick of the Miami Heat in the 2008 NBA Draft, the first of his seven NBA teams over his 11 year career.
Beasley was previously arrested for marijuana possession in 2013 in Scottsdale, Arizona, while playing for the Phoenix Suns. He was also suspended for five games in 2019 for violating the NBA anti-drug policy.
Coleman Hawkins expertly trolls Hunter Dickinson over head-to-head record, rivalry
Coleman Hawkins and the Kansas State Wildcats got a big win over their rival, Kansas, on Saturday. The Wildcats came away with an 81-73 win, giving them five straight victories. Hawkins won his matchup against KU big man Hunter Dickinson and the Wildcats’ star didn’t hesitate to troll him after the win.
“6-1? I think I’m 6-1 against him now?” Hawkins asked. But quickly added, “He’s a good player though.”

Kansas State led after the first half and never looked back, taking care of business for the win. David N’Guessan scored 20 points as the Wildcats took down No. 16 ranked Kansas. Three of KSU’s last five wins have come against ranked opponents.
Dug McDaniel added 15 points. Max Jones and Coleman Hawkins each pumped in 12 points. It was the third straight time in Manhattan that Kansas State had defeated Kansas. While Hawkins may have gotten the win, Hunter Dickinson posted a monster game for the Jayhawks, erupting for 21 points. He was named the Preseason AP Player of the Year for a reason. And he showed why on Saturday. Dickinson also chipped in nine rebounds.
Zeke Mayo had a big-time performance for the Jayhawks, stuffing the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. AJ Storr also chipped in nine points. KJ Adams had a good showing with 13 points and five rebounds.
