Kansas State football player one of two people injured in bar shooting
Kansas State football player Reed Godinet was one of two people injured during a bar shooting in Manhattan, Kansas, the Wichita Eagle reports. The shooting happened early Sunday morning at Tate’s Bar near the K-State campus.
Godinet, a senior walk-on defensive end from Springdale, Arkansas, is said to have suffered non life-threatening gunshot wounds. The Manhattan Mercury reported that Godinet was not the intended target, but stepped in to prevent the shooting.
The other victim, a 24-year-old man, suffered a concussion as a result. Both men were transported to Ascension via Christi to receive treatment. A source with knowledge of the situation told the Eagle that Godinet is recovering. No arrests have been made as of yet.
Godinet is a 6-foot-5 and 252-pound defender who has been with the Wildcats since 2019. He has played in one game for K-State, but he hasn’t recorded any stats.
His family has a strong connection to K-State. His father, Randall, played for the Wildcats from 1984-86. His older brother, Taylor, served as the team’s assistant director of recruiting before leaving for his current job as the defensive line coach at Pittsburg State.
