Kansas State has extended an offer to Gretna (Neb.) quarterback Zane Flores.

Flores has already visited the Wildcats twice. Grenta, Neb., is about a three-hour drive from Manhattan, Kan.

Flores led Grenta to its first state title this past fall, gaining over 3,000 total yards, tossing 26 touchdowns and running for 10 scores.

“He’s a quarterback that really knows the game of football,” Gretna head coach Mike Kayl told BVM Sports. “He’s very easy to coach because he wants to learn. He’s very competitive and he’s extremely humble despite having all the success that he’s had; he keeps a level head. …  We’re fortunate to have him in our system and we’re fortunate that we’re going to have him for another year.”

Nebraska and Northwestern are also heavily interested in the quarterback. Northwestern has not offered him yet, however, and just earned a commitment from Naperville (Ill.) North quarterback Aidan Gray.

Zane Flores would be a big addition to K-State’s QB room

Kansas State has one commitment in the 2023 cycle in Kansas City (Kan.) Piper four-star interior offensive lineman Camden Beebe.

In the 2022 cycle, the Wildcats signed one quarterback out of high school and one out of the portal.

Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge three-star quarterback Adryan Lara was their quarterback recruit out of high school. Lara is the No. 741 overall recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Kansas State also signed Adrian Martinez out of the transfer portal. Martinez was a four-year starter at Nebraska using his COVID fifth year to play another college season.

Martinez has an On3 NIL Valuation of $108,000. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
