Kansas State point guard Cam Carter plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

The Kansas State Wildcats‘ season came to a quick end in the postseason after they lost their opening-round matchup of the NIT against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Shortly after that defeat, the program took another hit as one of its key players decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, K-State guard Cam Carter will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Carter started his collegiate career in Mississippi with the Mississippi State Bulldogs. However, after just one season and the SEC, he decided to join Jerome Tang in Manhattan, Kan., as a member of the Wildcats men’s basketball program. Carter averaged 14.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this season.
In the final game of the season, Carter was in the starting lineup and played 28 minutes. Carter scored 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting and went 1-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Wildcats in the portal
Carter was part of a K-State roster that was heavily constructed from the transfer portal this past offseason. This year, it looks like Tang and the Wildcats could be back in the portal heavily once again.

K-State is set to lose guard Tylor Perry and Will McNair from this year’s roster as seniors. David N’Guessan has another year of eligibility if he chooses to use it and Ques Glover could return if he chooses after suffering an injury.
Currently, the only incoming player for the Wildcats from the high school level is David Castillo. A four-star prospect, Castillo chose to join the Wildcats over offers from the likes of Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma and others. He is expected to be a strong contributor as a freshman for K-State.
