Macaleab Rich has spent the past two seasons at Kansas State. He’ll now be looking to play elsewhere for his next year in becoming an upperclassman.

Rich plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. That comes per On3’s Joe Tipton on Thursday.

“NEWS: Kansas State small forward Macaleab Rich is entering the transfer portal, he told @On3sports,” Tipton tweeted.

‘Buddy’ Rich appeared in 29 games as a reserve for the Wildcats over the last two seasons. In that time, he averaged 4.8 points (66.7% FG) and 2.4 rebounds per game. That included 5.9 points (64.4% FG) and 2.2 rebounds this year as a sophomore.

Rich, a native of East Saint Louis, Illinois, was the No. 115 overall recruit as a four-star in the 2023 cycle. He also rated the No. 22 PF in the class and the No. 3 player out of his state behind only Jeremy Fears (Michigan State) and Dai Dai Ames (Kansas State, Virginia, California). That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Now, none of the players from that recruiting class remain with the program in Ames and RJ Jones (TCU).

Rich is now the first departure in the portal for Kansas State coming off a season where the Wildcats went 16-17 overall for their worst record yet under Jerome Tang. K-State has made one addition, though, with the commitment of Tyreek Smith (Memphis).
