Memphis transfer guard PJ Haggerty commits to Kansas State

Former Memphis guard PJ Haggerty has withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft and committed to Kansas State via the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton. Haggerty was the No. 1 shooting guard in On3’s 2025 Transfer Portal Player Rankings.
Haggerty only spent one season at Memphis, where he appeared in all 35 of the team’s games. Haggerty averaged 21.7 points per game, the third-most in the country. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per outing while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc.
For his efforts, Haggerty was named the AAC Player of the Year. It wasn’t the first time that Haggerty reeled in All-AAC honors. In the 2023-24 season at Tulsa, Haggerty was named an All-AAC Third-Team selection and the conference Freshman of the Year.
He was a redshirt freshman at Tulsa, and he averaged 21.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game on 49.3% shooting from the floor. Haggerty spent his true freshman season at TCU, where he only played six games before ultimately redshirting.
PJ Haggerty played high school basketball at Crosby (TX), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 150 overall player and No. 23 combo guard in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Haggerty was the No. 3 overall player in the portal. The 6-foot-3 playmaker was seeking more than $4 million in NIL, according to The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman. NC State also heavily pursued Haggerty in the portal but dropped out of the race this past week after signing Texas Tech transfer Darrion Williams.
Haggerty is the sixth player Kansas State has added via the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. His former Memphis teammate Tyreek Smith also committed to Kansas State via the transfer portal back in November.
On the flip side, Kansas State has lost seven players to the portal this offseason. This past season, the Wildcats posted a 16-17 overall record, the program’s worst since head coach Jerome Tang took over in 2022. Moreover, Kansas State finished with a 9-11 mark in conference play. With PJ Haggerty by his side, Tang will look to return Kansas State to its former heights in the upcoming season.
