Harrison twins returning to La Familia for TBT

La Familia was a big success in The Basketball Tournament last year as an alumni team of the Kentucky Wildcats. Now, two more players from last season’s roster will be back again for this summer in Lexington.
The TBT as well as La Familia have announced that Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison, both of the Harrison twins, will be back with the team in 2025. Both were among their leading scorers as well as in assists and steals over their five games played into the semifinals of the event.
Andrew and Aaron Harrison are the latest players the franchise has announced for this year’s roster. Willie Cauley-Stein, who won Defensive Player of the Year of the TBT, will also be back while Doron Lamb and DeAndre Liggins are new additions to the team. That’s after last year’s team also featured Eric Bledsoe, Nate Sestina, James Young, Kellan Grady, Daniel Orton, and Brennan Canada.
Andrew Harrison played two seasons for Kentucky from 2013 to 2015 under John Calipari. He averaged 10.1 points (37.2% FG, 36.7% 3PT), 3.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in his 79 games as the Wildcats’ starting point guard on a pair of teams that made consecutive appearances in the Final Four. Then, after a decade-long pro career in the association and overseas, Harrison averaged 11.6 points (36.6% FG, 31.3% 3PT), 4.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for La Familia in leading the team in steals while tying with Bledsoe for a team-high in assists.

Aaron Harrison played alongside his brother as the starting backcourt on those teams for Kentucky under Coach Cal from ’13 through ’15. He would post 12.4 points (41% FG, 33.5% 3PT), 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in that span, with him most known for the run of clutch, game-winning shots made during their run to the title game of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Then, following his own pro career in the league and internationally, Harrison put up 7.0 points (34.4% FG, 30.4% 3PT), 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists for La Familia last summer.
La Familia would reach the semifinals of the TBT in 2024 with four wins by an average margin of 20.3 points, including a 70-61 victory in a rivalry matchup against The ‘Ville, made up of alumni for Louisville, at Freedom Hall. Their run would then end in a 76-70 loss to Carmen’s Crew, made up of alumni from Ohio State, in the semis from Philadelphia.
La Familia will host the Lexington Regional again this summer at Historic Memorial Coliseum rather than in Rupp Arena. Still, of all the options of former players to possibly play, Andrew and Aaron Harrison will both be back in the backcourt for the team come July.
