Chris Livingston reveals personal mindset in breakout game
Kentucky won a close game that it desperately needed over Mississippi State on Wednesday. In that win, the Wildcats got a huge boost from an unlikely source, Chris Livingston.
After the game, Livingston explained his mindset during his breakout game.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that,” Chris Livingston replied when he was asked if he thought of the win as a breakout game.
“It’s just like a mindset. Like I didn’t want to lose. So, I was just making winning plays, whether that was scoring or just rebounding. I just didn’t want to lose. That’s just the mindset that I have. So, that’s why I felt like I showed that and played with that energy.”
In the win over Mississippi State, Chris Livingston had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Considering he’s only averaging 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game.
The Wildcats need Livingston to thrive down the final stretch, especially as Kentucky hosts Tennessee on Saturday.

Chris Livingston on John Calipari’s in-game message to him
Chris Livingston also spoke about the message that head coach John Calipari gave him during the game.
“That’s just how Cal is. He’s holding me to a high standard, being hard on me, expecting much more out of myself than I’m doing in the game. That’s his job. In the second half, I just knew I had to play harder and make some plays to make up for how I played in the first half,” Livingston said.
“He was just telling me to step it up. Saying I’ve got to be better for the team in order for us to get this win. That I’ve gotta be better defensively and to lock in offensively. That’s what he told me and I think I did that in the second half.”
