Chris Rodriguez to return for Kentucky's game at Ole Miss
Kentucky football’s Chris Rodriguez is finally coming back to the team. The star senior running back missed Kentucky’s first two games, wins over Miami (OH) and Florida, for undisclosed reasons. But Monday morning the team announced that he will be returning to the field in a few more weeks.
Here was the tweet from the Kentucky Football Twitter account, which stated that Rodriguez will be back for the Wildcats’ game at Ole Miss:
Had he been able to play all year, Rodriguez likely would have broken Kentucky’s all-time career rushing record. Now that he’ll miss at least four games, that dream may be out of the picture. Regardless, a MASSIVE boost for Kentucky when they head to Oxford and for the rest of the season.
The ‘Cats still face Youngstown State and Northern Illinois over the next two weeks before Chris Rodriguez returns on October 1 vs. the Rebels.

More on Chris Rodriguez situation
The Wildcats’ star running back is part of an eligibility inquiry, according to Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde.
Rodriguez missed Kentucky’s season opener last week against Miami (Ohio) and will reportedly miss the Week 2 game against Florida as he awaits a decision on his status. Kentucky hasn’t said why Rodriguez has missed the start of the season, although he also pleaded guilty to a DUI charge over the summer. Forde also added, citing sources, that the NCAA and the university are looking into the situation.

UK head coach Mark Stoops hasn’t had much to say on the situation either. Basically insinuating his hands are tied regarding Rodriguez’s suspension.
“It’s really something that I can’t comment on,” Stoops said regarding the situation around players who didn’t play last week. “There’s layers to it. Let me put it to you that way. If I knew, if it was my decision, I wouldn’t be hem-hawing around about it. That’s really all I should say. There’s layers to it, there’s layers to this inve- what’s going on. I just have to let it play out.”
