Cutter Boley, Dane Key injury updates: Latest on Kentucky players vs. Louisville
Kentucky can’t catch a break against Louisville, even on the injury front.
Quarterback Cutter Boley was injured and taken into the medical tent after being hit by Cardinals DL Thor Griffith in the third quarter on a play that was later reviewed for targeting. He did not return for the rest of the drive and was replaced by Gavin Wimsatt.
“He is still in the medical tent of that. I am told that he is being evaluated for a head injury,” SEC Network sideline reporter Ashley Shahahmadi said on the broadcast. “And also guys are coming in and out of the tent, just checking on him so you can already tell the impact that he’s made with the team so far this year.”
Also absent on the drive was star wide receiver Dane Key, who was officially ruled out due to an upper-body injury. His season is effectively over.
Instead, Wimsatt came in for Boley and instead of Key, it was Ja’Mori Maclin that stepped up to catch two passes for 38 yards, scoring Kentucky’s first touchdown of the day.
Over the next two Kentucky possessions, Louisville forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown before forcing a punt on the next drive. The Cardinals extended their lead back to 20 with the scoop and score.

Thor Griffith ejected for targeting
Louisville DL Thor Griffith was flagged for tareting against Kentucky QB Cutter Boley during the first quarter of Saturday’s regular season finale.
Griffith hit Boley with what appeared to be helmet-to-helmet contact. Boley was being wrapped up at the legs by another Cardinals defender when Griffith made the hit. After review, it was confirmed and he was ejected from the game.
Boley left the game and was sent to the medical tent on the Kentucky sideline. He was replaced by Gavin Wimsatt, who led Kentucky to its first touchdown drive of the afternoon just after Boley was taken out.
