WATCH: Dane Key recreates Kash Daniel's WWE-style celebration following win over Florida
No. 20 Kentucky defeated No. 12 Florida in the Swamp.
What?
Yes, you heard right. And Dane Key might’ve been the most important player in Kentucky’s lineup during Saturday’s 26-16 victory. Rightfully, he provided a celebration befitting of a Kentucky-native, following in the footsteps of former Paintsville standout and UK fan-favorite Kash Daniel.
Clanking two Gatorade bottles together and pouring it all over himself, Key recreated the same celebration Daniel did while channeling his inner Stone Cole Steve Austin.
Saturday’s victory in the Swamp served as Key’s second collegiate career game, and his most productive. Key made a spectacular contested 55-yard touchdown grab while smothered by a Gators defender (pass interference was called on the play). The true freshman out of Lexington went on to have two more receptions and totaled 83 receiving yards on the day.
Key is tied for most receiving yards (136) on the team with fellow wideout Tayvion Robinson, but has the most receiving touchdowns (2) of any of his cohorts. Between Key and Robinson, they have made up for 52 percent (272 yards) of quarterback Will Levis‘ passing yards (505) through two games this season, meaning Key has made himself a valuable piece of the UK offensive attack.

Sitting at 2-0 (1-0, SEC), Kentucky is riding high, and they’ll need to find that inner rattlesnake once again if they want their Atlanta dreams afloat. Kentucky will wind down from Saturday’s upset when they take on Youngstown State during Week 3 before heading down to Oxford to battle No. 22 Ole Miss and starting the meat of their SEC schedule.
But if you ask Key, as far as that championship match is considered, he doesn’t care if it’s Georgia or Alabama, Kentucky’s time is coming, and when they get that shot, you’re looking at the next SEC Champion.
And that’s the bottom line, because Dane Key said so.
