Deandre Square is 'day-to-day' per Mark Stoops
Kentucky football has been without their best linebacker for the last few games. Super-senior inside linebacker DeAndre Square is the consummate leader. A pro’s pro, a coach’s dream, the example-setter for the whole defense. The Kentucky coaching staff will say over and over again that they can’t overstate how impressive of a player and leader Square is on Kentucky’s defense. The loss is massive.
He originally went down vs. Tennessee, then missed UK’s next two games against Vanderbilt and Missouri. As did fellow super-senior inside linebacker Jacquez Jones. So the Wildcat LB room is down its two quarterbacks, essentially. And boy did that make a difference against Vanderbilt, as quarterback Mike Wright and the Commodore rushing attack got seemingly everything it wanted last Saturday during their win in Kroger Field.
Suffice to say: Kentucky needs its linebacker tandem back badly. According to head coach Mark Stoops, Square may finally be on the mend and eying a return against Georgia this week.

“Yes. As I mentioned last week, he’s day to day. And I don’t say that to throw people off. It’s, I mean, day to day. You know, I hope so (that he plays). I know DeAndre and I know him, he’ll try to play today, you know. He’ll try to be out there today.”

The path to the championship game is clear
Sounds like Square is certainly looking to get back on the field this week, and may even practice on Monday, per Stoops. A very encouraging update for the veteran UK star. Although, Square was also listed as day to day last week but ultimately couldn’t give it a go.
If everything goes as planned, expect to see DeAndre Square return for his final three games as a Kentucky Wildcat. Special, special player that Kentucky would be very fortunate to have back. Also a new member of the 300 club after recording his 300th takedown against Tennessee. Rarified air for a rare talent.
Everyone’s hoping to see a healthy Square this weekend.
