Former Bowling Green offensive lineman Alexander Wollschlaeger signed with Kentucky, sources told On3.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Wollschlaeger was a three-star recruit out of Oswego (Ill.) East, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 56 overall prospect in the state, the No. 280 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 2,825 overall prospect in the class.

Wollschlaeger, who went from 250 pounds as a freshman to over 300, has 2,341 career snaps under his belt. An exceptional pass-blocker, this fall the team captain had a PFF grade of 76.9.

“My greatest strength is being able to see the defense, see hints of what’s coming, and what the defense is lined up in, and being able to adjust to that,” Wollschlaeger said. “I’m pretty good at working with the double team and not against it. My length is a good strength to have, especially in pass pro.”

He also looked at schools like Northwestern, Kansas State, Pitt, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Louisville, Iowa State, and Nebraska, among potential visits.

When Wollschlaeger first committed to Bowling Green out of high school, NIL was not yet a factor in college football. This time around, NIL has added a new aspect to the recruitment.

“It’s a whole new deal now,” Wollschlaeger said. “Now, you have that in the mix too. I’m trying to keep money outside of my mind and find a university where the coaching staff and players seem like a good fit and I have the ability to develop more.”
