Former Kentucky star pens letter to BBN, announces Big Ten transfer destination
Throughout his time with Kentucky, cornerback Cedrick Dort became one of the most important defenders on the Wildcats. However, he’s taking his talents to a new program — announcing his decision to transfer to The University of Wisconsin.
After revealing his decision, Dort took to social media to share a heartfelt letter to Big Blue Nation.
“Dear BBN, I can’t thank you enough for accepting a kid from Palm Beach, Florida and taking me in as one of your own,” started Dort. “I’ll love you forever, good and bad, and if I could go back I’d do it all over again. From getting a degree, breaking streaks, making history that lasts FOREVER, and winning four consecutive bowls on the big stage.
“I’ve sat back and realized I already won at this game called life and what I’m walking into next is blessings because where I’m from, we don’t make it past the age of 20.”
Dort is the No. 92 overall cornerback in the On3 2022 College Football Transfer Portal rankings. In the Big Ten, he’ll be looking to take his game to the next level.

Dort to Wisconsin: ‘Let’s do it.’
Furthermore, Cedrick Dort made sure to thank a myriad of different influences from throughout his football career.
“To the ‘17 class, y’all my brothers 4L,” wrote Dort. “We came into Lexington with the mindset of becoming legendary and turning UK into a school where dreams can be achieved on and off the field. I’ll forever have your back.
“To my brothers from JUCO, y’all came in teaching me and the world to never give up, we forever locked in. Coach Hill, Coach Ed, D-Mack, Ricky, Gabe, Evan, Aaron, TK, and many more that played a significant role, it’s a blessing to have you through my years. You guys watched a kid walk in and helped him become a man.
“To my coaching staff, I appreciate the opportunity to put on the Blue and White to create memories that would last a lifetime. You never failed to have my back when times were hard. To my youngbulls, YKDV I’m just a call away. I can’t wait to see y’all in Atlanta this year laying in confetti.”
Finally, Cedrick Dort finished with a simple, motivating message to the Wisconsin Badgers.
“To my next school, let’s do it.”
