Former Syracuse wide receiver commits to Kentucky Wildcats
Former Syracuse Orange wide receiver Taj Harris has found a new home. Harris, who recently entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, has committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Harris was in Lexington for an official visit to Kentucky on Friday, and early on Saturday morning he made his commitment. In addition to Kentucky, Harris also had offers from Mississippi State, Utah, and Ole Miss according to KSR’s Nick Roush. The now Kentucky wide receiver also tweeted that he had offers from Texas A&M, Western Kentucky, Temple, NC State, and Auburn.
Harris joins Kentucky after four years with Syracuse
Harris has had a solid role on the Syracuse offense over his four seasons with the Orange. As a freshman in 2018, he had 40 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns. Then as a sophomore, Harris had 37 receptions for 559 yards and two touchdowns. Last season Harris had his most productive year yet with 58 receptions for 733 yards and five touchdowns. His numbers last year were enough to earn Harris third-team All-ACC honors.
So far this season, Harris had 16 receptions for 171 yards and zero touchdowns. Harris and his experience is a big pickup for a Kentucky team that will lose wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson after the season. Robinson is Kentucky’s leading receiver by a wide margin with 58 receptions, 645 yards, and five touchdowns. Nobody else on Kentucky’s roster has 20 receptions or more than 257 yards, while the only other player with multiple receiving touchdowns is running back Chris Rodriguez Jr.

Harris, a Palmyra, New Jersey native, originally chose Syracuse over multiple other offers in 2018. He had offers from Maryland, NC State, Ole Miss, Rutgers, and Temple before committing to the Orange. Harris was a three star recruit during his original recruitment.
Kentucky was one of the first schools to show interest in Harris after he entered the NCAA transfer portal in October. The Wildcats offered him less than a day after he submitted his name to the portal.
