Since his decommitment from Rutgers in early October, Union (NJ) defensive back Davison Igbinosun has largely led a quiet recruitment. But with the early signing period just two weeks away, things are beginning to heat up.

The four-star was visited Monday by Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops and defensive coordinator Brad White, who made their way up to New Jersey for an in-home conversation.

Igbinosun is the No. 234 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s own rankings are place him significantly higher as the No. 127 prospect and No. 11 safety.

Stoops has been rumored as a potential candidate for multiple open jobs, but nothing of substance has come from that. Instead, he’ll be making a number of home visits over the next few weeks before the early signing period opens Dec. 15.

Following his decommitment, Davison Igbinosun picked up offers from NebraskaWest VirginiaLouisvilleKentucky, Missouri and Iowa. He also took a visits to Tennessee soon after backing off his Rutgers pledge and also tripped to Ole Miss in late October. He’s yet to visit Kentucky, but Stoops and Co. will certainly push for one between now and the early signing period.

The Wildcats have put together arguably the best recruiting class in school history for 2022. It is highlighted by five-stars Kiyaunta Goodwin and Barion Brown. Kentucky has three cornerbacks currently committed. But they are still actively looking to add to a secondary that is expected to lose players to graduation.
