Kentucky defender DeAndre Square exits game vs Tennessee, heads to locker room
Early in the game against Tennessee, Kentucky and head coach Mark Stoops are down a defender. Inside linebacker DeAndre Square was shown heading back to the Wildcats’ locker room during ESPN’s broadcast, with a key player no longer on the field.
Holly Rowe provided the reason as to why Square is out of the game, saying it’s a right ankle injury for the longtime team captain. There was no update on whether or not Square would return to the game.

“DeAndre Square, the three-time team captain for Kentucky, has gone to the locker room with a right ankle injury. Not sure yet if he will return or not. In his place, though, a talented sophomore, Trevin Wallace, No. 32. They said he has all the tools to be great and he’ll play a lot. So, a good replacement for Square right now.”
Square eventually returned to the sideline but was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game.

More on DeAndre Square, Kentucky
Kentucky was a heavy underdog heading into Neyland Stadium and losing somebody just as Square certainly has not helped the effort. He’s been a leader for the Wildcats for years, serving as a team captain for the past three years.
Heading into Saturday night, Square had played in all seven games for Kentucky. He has recorded 52 tackles, three tackles for a loss, and a sack. He’s been the defensive leader for Stoops with both his play and voice.
While his current status against Tennessee is unknown, the future is bright for Square. ESPN named him one of the sleepers for the upcoming NFL Draft, being one of 12. There is still plenty of time to see the linebacker shoot up the draft charts as the season continues.
