Kentucky guard Jaxson Robinson (wrist) is out for the Wildcats’ showdown against No. 1 Auburn on Saturday, per the SEC availability report. Robinson played in the first half of Kentucky’s win over Oklahoma on Saturday but didn’t play in the second half after re-aggravating his injury.

In 12 minutes against the Sooners, Robinson recorded seven points, an assist and two steals while shooting 3-7 from the field. Robinson had missed four consecutive games before attempting to play against Oklahoma.

Jaxson Robinson is Kentucky’s second-leading scorer this season, averaging 13.0 points per game while shooting 37.6% from beyond the arc. After the Wildcats’ last-second win on Wednesday, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope provided further details on Robinson’s injury.

“Jax’s wrist, it didn’t respond great tonight. So we’ll see how that is going forward,” Pope said.

Although Robinson, not including Kerr Kriisa, is the only player listed as out for Kentucky on Saturday, he’s far from the only one battling injury. Kentucky point guard Lamont Butler also made his return to the court on Wednesday after missing three games due to a shoulder injury.

Butler’s shoulder has given him recurring issues this season and he donned a large brace to stabilize his shoulder against the Sooners. He finished the game with seven points, four rebounds and six assists in 20 minutes.

Kentucky forward Andrew Carr has only missed one game this season but has been fighting through back pain. With less than 24 hours until they face off against a fully healthy Auburn team, Kentucky needs to recover quickly.

Auburn is 26-2 this season and 14-1 in conference play. Alas, Kentucky hasn’t lost to the Tigers at Rupp Arena since 1988. Both teams will be out to prove something on Saturday and Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl is excited for the challenge.

“It’s a huge building. They have a very, very knowledgeable fan base. They know the game,” Pearl said Wednesday. “They have an expectation to beat you. They’re always very, very talented.

“… But I think the reason we have not won there is because historically Kentucky has been the best team in the league, and historically we haven’t been one of the best teams in the league, over a long period of time.”

Kentucky and Auburn will square off at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air live on ESPN.
