Jaxson Robinson turns tables on new Kentucky assistant Cody Fueger with commitment 'BOOM' photo
‘BOOM’ has taken a life of its own at Kentucky this offseason with Cody Fueger, a new assistant who followed Mark Pope to UK, posting it in the form of a gif on social media every time that the Wildcats have earned a commitment thus far. However, following the news that Jaxson Robinson, who played for Pope and Fueger at BYU, would also be coming to Lexington, he reversed it back on his former coaches.
Again, ‘BOOM’ has been said and posted a lot this offseason with 11 players committing to UK so far. Robinson, the 12th addition as of today, though, came with one of the best ones yet. On his Instagram story, he beat Fueger to it with an old photo of his coach with the coined phrase.
Fueger did also post a gif of his own around the time that the update on Robinson’s decision came.
With that post regarding Robinson, Fueger has posted eight different gifs this offseason. Otega Oweh, Andrew Carr, Brandon Garrison, Koby Brea, Kerr Kriisa, Trent Noah, and Ansley Almonor were the recipients of the others posts thus far. Collin Chandler also received one in a sense, even though he had already been committed before the trend truly began.
Amari Williams, Lamont Butler Jr., and Travis Perry all missed out on the new tradition. They had each already committed themselves prior to the social media movement by Fueger.
With the addition of Robinson, Kentucky now has a dozen players for next season. With the majority of them being transfers, the Wildcats have proven to work well in the portal. All nine rank within the Top-350 of On3’s 2024 Transfer Portal Top Players. Eight of them rate within the Top-125 and several are in the Top-100 and Top-50.
Big Blue Nation waits patiently for Fueger’s posts, especially for this one considering its magnitude. That’s why it’s even better that Robinson flipped this one around on him now that he’s officially coming to the bluegrass with them for next season.

Per Jeff Borzello at ESPN, Robinson did withdraw his name from the NBA Draft. With that, he also decided to commit himself to Kentucky out of the transfer portal.
Robinson just completed his fourth collegiate season this past year at BYU. That came after previously starting his career in the Southeastern Conference with a freshman season at Texas A&M and a sophomore campaign with Arkansas.
Over his college career in 96 games, Robinson has averaged 8.7 points and 2.2 rebounds. He did so while shooting 40.5% from the field and 34.3% from three.
Robinson moved to the bench as a senior after starting for most of his junior year in Provo. However, that ended up leading to his best play this last season. He posted career-highs at 14.2 points on 42.6% shooting from the field and 35.4% from three. That earned him honors as the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
The addition of Robinson is arguably the most significant to date over this offseason at Kentucky, especially considering his history with Pope. With him now in the fold, the Wildcats are all but set to tip things off with a final roster for the first year of the next era in the program.
