Kentucky‘s Canadian escapades just keep getting better. After the Wildcats picked up their second win at GLOBL JAM on Thursday, an odd rumor hit the internet.

“The ‘Cats took care of Canada 93-69 tonight. Next stop? Drake’s house. Kentucky will be visiting the Grammy Award-winning rapper’s $100 million dollar home tomorrow in Toronto. Drake is on tour, but as Coach Cal said a week ago, he left him the keys,” Kentucky Sports Radios Daniel Hager wrote on Twitter.

It seems like the natural next step for Kentucky. The team went back-to-back to start the event with wins over Team Germany and Team Canada. Perhaps checking out Drake’s crib will help the young team to make headlines once again. OK, that’s enough Drake puns for now.

In all seriousness, nobody should be surprised. UK head coach and John Calipari have publicly been friends for years. In 2009, Calipari shocked Kentucky diehards when he introduced the Canadian rapper at Big Blue Madness.

After a few dinners and social exchanges, Drake returned to Big Blue Madness again in 2017, serving as an honorary coach and even giving a speech to Big Blue Nation.

“I told Coach that I wanted to come back, and he made it possible for me to be here, so I appreciate you accepting me again, one more time,” he said. “You know, people ask me, ‘There are so many madnesses going on and so many different events, why don’t you go anywhere else?’ And I tell them, ‘I’m a Wildcat through and through. And there’s only one Big Blue.’”

That’s one way to draw in recruits. Now, Calipari is relying on an old friend to come through once more. Per Architectural Digest, the home won’t disappoint.

“Measuring 50,000 square feet, with amenities such as an NBA regulation-size indoor basketball court crowned by a 21-square-foot pyramidal skylight, Drake’s astonishing domicile certainly qualifies as extravagant,” Mayer Rus wrote in 2020.

“I think the house shows that I have true faith in myself to take on this task when I was just 27 and see it through,” Drake said in the article. “I also think the house says that I will forever remain solid in the place I was born.”

If Kentucky actually visits, the trip will undoubtedly remain solid forever in the Cats’ minds. And, of course, if the team gets too distracted while there, Calipari can always have his squad get up some shots.
